Overview
Within the Add-on, you can access Assessments created and/or saved from Assessment Builder or Studio. Once embedded in a Google Classroom assignment, students may access and complete assessments from directly within Classroom.
How do I embed and assign Discovery Education assessments?
To embed a Discovery Education assessment resource into a Google Classroom assignment, follow these steps:
- From the class Stream, navigate to Classwork in the top menu bar and select + Create. Choose Assignment.
- In the new assignment, add an Assignment Name and enter assignment instructions.
- In the Add-ons menu, select Discovery Education.
-
You may be prompted to Sign In with Google. If this permission check does not occur for you, and you are unable to see your Discovery Education content, please ensure you have allowed popups on your browser. Choose your account, and accept terms and conditions to proceed.
-
Choose Assessments > My Assessments from the left-hand menu.
-
Click Embed on your target Assessment.
-
If desired, you may check your embedded material before Assigning the content to students.
-
Click Assign in the top right-hand action menu of your Assignment.
-
Grade passback: Once the student completes the Assignment, you may see either a score populate the Google Classroom gradebook, or an indicator that teacher grading is required. This depends on whether you have automatically scored questions in the Assessment (like multiple choice), or teacher graded questions (like free response).
As student attempts are recorded, they are accessible in real time within the Discovery Education Assignment Manager. There is no risk of an "un-synced" gradebook while completing this process.
