Overview
The AI TeacherTools | Assess is a generative AI tool that helps educators efficiently create quizzes and assessments tailored to their classroom needs.
It produces written assessment content based on educator-selected or uploaded source material and settings for export. Note, the tool is only available to non-student users and does not provide grading functionality or show results within the app. Assigning and grading are done in the application the teacher chooses to export the assessment to, such as Google Classroom, DEX, etc.

Who can use the tool?
Any US teacher or administrator licensed to Experience can access AI TeacherTools | Assess.
How do I access this tool?
There are several ways to access AI TeacherTools | Assess, depending on where you are in product.
- From the Global Navigation menu located in the top left of all Experience pages.
- Directly from select Discovery Education Content.
- From the 3-dot menu of select Discovery Education Content.
How should I use this tool?
AI TeacherTools | Assess is designed to produce instructional and formative assessments that can be aligned to standards, learning objectives, or Bloom’s Taxonomy levels. It saves educators time and delivers high-quality assessment content tailored to lesson content.
It is best used to create checks for understanding along the Bloom’s Taxonomy learning path, from Level 1: Remember to Level 6: Create. As a generative AI tool, educators should always review for quality and accuracy before classroom use.
Can I trust the AI generated content?
AI TeacherTools | Assess is an educator “co-pilot”. The content it produces are suggestions; educators should always review for accuracy and relevancy.
- ·All generated questions are generated based on educator chosen source materials.
- ·Educators maintain full editorial control over all generated content.
OpenAI regularly monitors and improves their LLM for safety and bias improvements, find details here.
AI TeacherTools | Assess requires vetted source content from Discovery Experience, or educator provided source content, and generates from this content exclusively. All assessment copy is editable, and reminders are provided in the tool that AI is a copilot. Educators are advised to carefully review all generated content before use.
What languages does the tool support?
Currently, AI TeacherTools | Assess supports only English. However, we welcome feedback on what would be most helpful to your classrooms.
Can I opt out of the tool?
Yes, If your district prefers not to use AI Teacher Tools | Assess, it can opt out.
District and site administrators can opt out from the Experience Admin Dashboard by selecting “Manage District” and then “AI Settings.”
Please note: If a district administrator opts out, a site administrator will not be able to opt back in.
