What is IBM SkillsBuild?
Created by IBM with support from Discovery Education, IMB SkillsBuild provides educators access to free, self-paced professional development courses focused on AI, cybersecurity, and digital literacy. SkillsBuild equips teachers with the essential knowledge, confidence, and credentials needed to teach emerging technologies while earning Creditly credentials.
Getting Started with IBM SkillsBuild
Step 1: Open IBM SkillsBuild and review the Getting Started information
Signing in to Discovery Education
Open the IBM SkillsBuild channel from your Discovery Education Homepage. Click Accessing IBM SkillsBuild to open a video walking you through how to sign in and access the IBM channel.
Reviewing the SkillsBuild introductory Videos
Watch the 1-2 minute introductory videos. Each video focuses on a different topic.
- Accessing IBM SkillsBuild: Introduces IBM SkillsBuild and how to access the channel from the DE Homepage.
- Registration and Log In: How to create an account and sign in to the SkillsBuild dashboard.
- Learning Pathways: Learn more about each learning pathway and how to find them in the SkillsBuild dashboard.
- Earning Credly Credentials: Discover where to find credential opportunities, how to track your progress, and steps to earn and share badges.

Step 2: Create an account and open the SkillsBuild dashboard
From the IBM SkillsBuild channel page, click the Register for IBM SkillsBuild tile and follow the prompts to create an account.

Step 3: Explore learning pathways and start earning credentials!
IBM SkillsBuild courses are self-paced. Learning pathways, or plans, act like a guided roadmap through the activities and tasks that help you build real-world digital skills. You need to complete all of the courses within a learning plan to earn a Creditly credential.
