Social Studies Essentials now includes Spanish-language content across every grade level (K–5), giving provisioned users the option to translate lesson slideshows, student resources, and assessments into Spanish using a language dropdown.
Spanish Content Basics
Who can see the Spanish language option?
Spanish content is available for accounts that have been set up for it by your school or district. If you don't see the language option and believe you should have access, contact your administrator or the Discovery Education Customer Support Team.
Is Spanish content available for every unit?
Yes. Spanish content is now available across all five units in every grade level (K–5).
Finding the Language Option
Look for a language dropdown at the top of grade-level and unit-level pages within Social Studies Essentials.
Translating Student Materials
The following student-facing resources are available in Spanish for every unit:
- Lesson slideshows
- Graphic Organizers
- Reading Passage PDFs (Grades 4–5 only)
- Student Activity PDFs (Grades 4–5 only)
Switching Assessments to Spanish
Both unit and lesson assessments are available in English or Spanish. You can switch languages two ways:
- Using the language dropdown on the grade-level or unit-level page, or
- Selecting the language directly from inside an assessment's Teacher Preview.

Not everything will be in Spanish Much of the teacher experience is both student- and teacher-facing, so selecting Spanish from the dropdown won't translate everything you see — some teacher-facing content will still appear in English. Discovery Education continues to optimize what displays in Spanish versus English for teachers. |
