Setting Up a New Schoology LTI 1.3 Integration

The Discovery Education LTI App in Schoology provides Single Sign-On (SSO) and an embedded search widget, enabling users to work across systems to add Discovery Education content to Schoology. Ready to move forward with an integration? Complete the SSO Request Form to begin the process and a member of the DE Technical Integrations team will be in touch. 

Requirements

To proceed with the Schoology LTI 1.3 integration, confirm the following requirements:

  1. Only schools that subscribe to Discovery Education services can configure the app within Schoology.
  2. Ability to import user data to Discovery Education’s website via CSV files or alternate user provisioning process. See Imports for Single Sign-On for details.

If you do have an active LTI 1.1 connection, you will see the following information on your Admin portal homepage and will need to navigate to Upgrading to the Schoology LTI 1.3 Integration for the appropriate support.

How to set up a new Schoology LTI 1.3 Integration

  1. Sign into Schoology as an LMS administrator.
  2. Click on the Apps tile in the top right of the page .Apps.png
  3. Click on App Center.
  4. Navigate to Discovery Education (direct link here). If you do not see an “Install LTI 1.3 App” button on this page, it’s likely that your administrator account is not provisioned with the required permissions to proceed. Please contact your Schoology support representative to ensure you have the correct permissions to proceed.installlti1.3.png

  5. Agree to the pop up modal to ensure you enable the app and all LTI Advantage Services appropriately.

  6. Click Add to Organization.

  7. Click Configure on the new app from your Organization App.

  8. Share your given Deployment ID with the Discovery Education integrations support team. Wait for the team to confirm that the Deployment ID has been formulated correctly before. proceeding.  deploymentid.png

  9. From your Organization Apps page, click Install/Remove on the new app.

  10. Enable for All Users and All Courses and Submit.

  11. Verify that this new app is accessible for a test teacher by attempting to Add Materials, and by clicking on the Discovery Education app in the left rail of course navigation.
