With a video or standard quiz, teachers can either assign or launch a quiz for students.
Note: Quiz is available to our full Discovery Education partners only.
Assign a Quiz
When you assign a quiz, it appears on the student's homepage, like other Discovery Education resources.
To assign content to students, follow these steps:
- Step 1 - Edit the title and directions for the assignment.
- Step 2 - Select the date for content to appear on a student homepage and the content completion date.
- Step 3 - Select the class (or grouping of students) to assign content to.
- Step 4 - Confirm the settings of your assignment and select Assign.
Students launch the assigned quiz from their homepage and complete it at their own pace. For a video quiz, they play the video and answer questions as they appear. For a standard quiz, they advance through the questions at their pace.
When finished, they submit the quiz. They can view their answers and results (for auto-graded items) automatically at the end of the quiz. Learn more about managing quiz results.
Launch a Quiz
When you launch a quiz live, a student enters a code to access the quiz. Live Quizzes have two options:
-
- Teacher-Led: The teacher controls the pace of the quiz. Note that this is the default option.
- Video Quiz: The teacher plays the video in a whole group and questions appear on the student screen at marked moments.
- Standard Quiz: The questions appear on the students screen based on the teacher advancing the questions.
- Student-Led: The student progresses through at their own pace.
- Teacher-Led: The teacher controls the pace of the quiz. Note that this is the default option.
The live quiz defaults to teacher-led. However, if you prefer it to be student-led, toggle that option in the bottom right.
Note that during a live quiz, teachers can view results as they come in live and grade them then, or wait until the end.
