Overview
From any page, access a number of functional tools from the toolbar, including language options, student responses in the Dashboard, and an interactive glossary.
Note that the toolbar options vary depending whether you are on a Course, Unit, or Concept page. From a Concept page, you have access to all functional tools within Science Techbook.
How do I navigate the Toolbar?
From the tool bar on any page, you always have access to the following:
Teacher View
Toggle on and off to display teacher-only information, such as Teacher Notes, differentiation supports, additional assessments, and Teacher Guides for Hands-On Activities.
Assign
Easily Assign content to your students. Learn more here.
Results
Quick access to Course Assessments and the Concept Dashboard.
Glossary
Key academic terms in Science Techbook are linked to the Interactive Glossary. In addition to the Glossary button in the toolbar, you can locate the blue, hyperlinked words throughout the text.
Each term includes a variety of alternative definition formats such as: animations that helps describe the term, details that include a definition and key context sentences for the term, video segments discussing the term, and/or images or diagrams.
Definitions and key context statements are provided in both English and Spanish. Interactive Glossary terms are embedded throughout the Science Techbook and can also be found through the general keyword search.
The Science Techbook Glossary includes the Immersive Reader functionality.
Language
Use the Language Toggle to choose between English or Spanish and adjust Reading Level, where available. Note that Reading Level A is on grade level and Reading Level B is approximately two levels below grade level.

Resources
- Course Assessments - access summative assessment data for assigned assessments.
- Concept Dashboard - access formative assessment data for the concept.
- Glossary - vocab terms are defined and expanded with images, videos and/or animations. Additionally, student friendly key contexts and definitions are provided to support retention.
- My Notebook - highlight important concepts or vocabulary, then the interactive text automatically adds to the interactive notebook. Add new or additional notes, and the notebook saves and organizes it by course, unit, and concept.
- Actions - add this activity to My Content or Favorites for easy access later, assign to students, share with colleagues or students, or add to a Studio board or slideshow.
- Print Options - get a printer-friendly version of the page for printing or saving as a PDF for offline access. Choose to print the page, all pages within the tab, or all tabs within the concept.
- Tools - various tools are available to teachers and students to support learning in Science Techbook. These tools are optimized by grade level to support student learning across different skill levels. All students have access to the whiteboard and calculator. Higher grade levels will also have access to the graphing calculator, scientific calculator, and unit converter.
