Assigning content to students enables fast access to materials, minimizes distractions, and creates opportunities for tracking completion.
Note: When assigning content to students, students must have a Discovery Education account and your classes must be set up. If you are unsure how to do either, explore these articles:
With Discovery Education Math Techbook, students can browse and use navigation to access specific materials. Assigning content, though, whether an individual resource or an entire concept or unit, ensures that students have fast access to materials, minimizes distractions, and creates opportunities for tracking completion.
To assign a particular tab in a concept, such as Discover, Practice, or Apply, open that tab and choose Assign. Assign the content to a class, classes, or individual students. Note: On the student learning plan, the content will be assigned as Core Interactive Text.
To assign a single resource embedded on a concept page, select the ellipsis and choose Assign. Note: Some resources will need to be opened in a player window before they can be assigned.
Assign Content from Model Lesson Sessions
To assign content utilized in the model lessons, open the Model Lesson and select a lesson session. All Discovery Education resources associated with that lesson or lesson session are hyperlinked. To assign a resource directly to students, select the resource to open it.
Depending on the resource type, look for a check mark with arrow icon, the words Assign, or an ellipsis (…) indicator. Once the resource is selected, choose Assign and assign the content to a class, classes, or to individual students.
When content is assigned to students, the following options are available:
- Assign Date - select the date you want content to appear on student learning plans
- Due Date - indicate to students when content or work should be completed by
- Assign to Class - select the class (or grouping of students) to which something should be assigned
- Assign to Student - use Select All to assign content to all students in a class, or hold down the Ctrl (PC) or Command (Mac) key while clicking to select multiple students.
After selecting the students, select Save.
Results for assigned items can be found in the Math Techbook Dashboard.
Course Assessments Dashboard
The Course Assessments Dashboard contains the summative assessments in each unit. From this Dashboard, assessments can be assigned directly to students. Once assigned, teachers can access results for students from this dashboard as well.
