Overview
Discovery Education Quiz allows teachers to create formative assessments that check for understanding in the classroom. Access ready-made quizzes, embed questions in a video, or create a Standard Quiz and launch at any time - all from the same learning platform.
How do I access Quiz?
To access Quiz, navigate to the Global Navigation dropdown in the upper left corner.

What Quiz types are available?
There are three different quiz types available to meet various teaching needs.
Video Quiz: Embed a variety of question types in Discovery Education videos to create quizzes. Video Quiz offers three question types: short answer, poll, and multiple choice. See Video Quiz to learn more.
Standard Quiz: Create quizzes with multiple formats. Use a variety of question types such as short answer (with auto grade option), poll, multiple choice, multiple select, draw, and annotate. See Standard Quiz to learn more
Ask Live Quiz: Facilitate a live activity and verbally dictate quiz questions. Students respond from their own devices in a short answer format. See Ask Live Quiz to learn more.
How do I use Quiz Library?
Note that Quiz Library is only available to Discovery Education Experience licensed users.
Access over 500 grab-and-go quizzes, created by DE experts, from the Quiz Library. Here you can filter quizzes by type, grade band, subject, and search by keywords, standards, and skill codes. Note that standards are included in the teacher notes, when available.
These quizzes come in two types, Video Quiz and Standard Quiz. Use as-is, or edit them to meet the needs of your class. Launch them live, or assign them to students.
To explore, navigate to the Quiz Library tab.
When you search the Quiz Library, you have several options.
- Explore Featured Quizzes and Top 20.
- Filter by Video Quizzes or Standard Quizzes.
- Use the Search Quiz Library functionality and sort by grade band, standard, or subject.
How do I explore My Quizzes?
You can access previously created quizzes from the My Quizzes tab.
When you view your quizzes, you have several options:
- Filter the quiz list by Video Quiz and Standard Quiz.
- Filter the quiz list by Title.
- View the status of a quiz - Draft or Launched.
- View when a quiz was updated, and who updated it.
- View the # of Questions and Times Used of a quiz.
- Take Actions: Assign, Launch Now, Edit, View as Student, Share, Delete, Print.
Note that from the left side bar menu, you can view Results, My Quizzes, Quiz Library, and Trash.
How do I create a Quiz?
To get started with the quiz feature, select Create New in the upper right corner. Then, select your activity. You have the following options:
- Build a new Video Quiz or Standard Quiz, then assign it or deliver it live during class. To learn more, see Video Quiz and Standard Quiz.
- Launch an Ask Live Quiz, students can respond live to your verbal questions from their own devices. To learn more, see Launch Ask Live Quiz.
How do I Assign or Launch a Quiz?
There are two ways to share a quiz with students.
Assign
You can assign a Video Quiz or Standard Quiz to students to complete on their own within an assigned timeframe. To learn more, see Assigning a Quiz.
Launch Now
You can launch a Video Quiz or Standard Quiz live. Share the provided activity code with students so they can access and enter the quiz. You also have the option to allow guest participants.
Live quizzes have two options:
- Student-Led: The student progresses through at their own pace.

Teacher-Led: The teacher controls the pace.
- With a Video Quiz, play the video to the whole group and questions appear on the student screen at the marked moments.
- With a Standard Quiz, questions appear on the students screen based on a student's pace.

How do I view my Quiz results dashboard?
From the Quiz homepage, select Results from the left sidebar menu to view all assigned and launched quizzes.
Then, select a quiz title to view specific results for that quiz.
The individual quiz results dashboard gives you a class summary, this includes the number of correct responses, participants, and questions on the quiz.
There are three ways to view the quiz results:
Report View
This gives a quick glance at a class as a whole and their progress by question.
Question View
This provides grading ability and a detailed view of responses by question.
Student View
This provides grading ability and response details by individual student. Note that if there are questions that need teacher grading, they are marked as Needs Score.
