Discovery Education Studio provides an opportunity to assign boards to students so they can interact and edit a copy of the board for various assignments.
Note: When assigning content with students, students must have a Discovery Education account and your classes must be set up. If you are unsure how to do either, explore these articles:
Assign Projects to Students
Once a board is shared, you can click Assign option located in the three vertical dots in the upper right corner to send to students. When content is assigned to students, the following options are available:
- Step 1 - Name the assignment and give student directions.
- Step 2 - select the date you want content to appear on student learning plans as well as the date for when content or work should be completed by
- Step 3 - select the class (or grouping of students) to which something should be assigned
- Step 4 - confirm the settings of your assignment and click okay
Access Assignments
Once a Studio Project is assigned, teachers can access the results from the Classrooms button from the My DE homepage. If the project has a quiz embedded in it, it will appear as a Studio Quiz. Otherwise, it will appear as a Slideshow or Board.
Assignments: Student Access
Students can access assignments from their My DE homepage.
When a board or slideshow is assigned to a student that contains only text and resources (no quizzes), students can interact with the content. Once finished, they click Mark as Complete to let you know they are finished with that assignment.
When a board or slideshow that contains a quiz is assigned to students, they are able to interact with the content and answer the question(s) provided. Once they are finished, they click Submit Assignment to return it to you for grading.
Assignment Results: Teacher View
Once students have completed an assignment, the teacher can access the results through the Assignments list. Projects without quizzes show a completion rate for students. Studio Quizzes can be graded through the Dashboard. Single and Multiple Answer questions are automatically graded. Short Answer quizzes can be graded by the teacher using the embedded rubric. The teacher can also leave comments.
Students can access their grade as well as teacher feedback within the Studio project by clicking Review Assignment on the board or slideshow.
Assign Studio Quizzes in Learning Management Systems
Studio boards and slideshows with quiz modules can also be assigned within Canvas, Schoology, Brightspace by D2L, and Infinite Campus. When assigned inside these Learning Management Systems, students can explore the board and answer questions directly in the LMS and the grade will transfer back to the LMS gradebook.
