Discovery Education Studio provides an opportunity to assign Studio Projects - Boards, Slideshows, and Quizzes - to students so they can interact and edit a copy of the project for various assignments.
Assign Studio Projects in DE
After you share a Studio Project and are ready to assign content to students, select Assign from the top action bar.
Then, follow these steps:
- Step 1 - Title and Instructions: Give the assignment a title and write instructions and select Next.
- Step 2 - Assign to: Select entire classes or a group of students within your classes and select Next.
- Step 3 - Schedule: Select the start and due dates of the assignment and select Assign.
- Step 4 - Confirmation: View confirmation of the assignment.
To view the newly assigned Studio project in your Classroom Manager, select View Assignment Manager. To close and continue, select Okay.
Assign Studio Projects in Learning Management Systems
You can assign Studio Projects within Canvas, Schoology, Brightspace by D2L, and Infinite Campus. This allows students to explore the content and answer questions directly in the LMS and grades transfer back to the LMS gradebook.

Teacher Access to Studio Project Assignments
Navigate to Classrooms from the Global Navigation menu in the top left corner to access information from assigned Studio projects.
Select the hyperlinked Assignment name to view individual student completion for specific assignments.
Under Type, Studio Projects appear as a Studio Quiz, Slideshow, or Board. Note that Slideshows and Boards are Non-Gradable.
If the project contains a quiz module or question, it appears as a Studio Quiz. Note that when a student submits a Studio Quiz, you can View Results.
Student Access to Studio Project Assignments
Students access assignments from their My DE homepage.
Studio Boards and Studio Slideshows
When a Studio Board or Studio Slideshow is assigned, the student interacts with the content and then selects Mark as Complete when finished.
Studio Quizzes
When a Studio Quiz is assigned, the student interacts with the content and answers the included question(s). When finished, the student selects Submit Assignment to return for grading.
Note that at any time a student can view submitted work when they navigate to Assignments on their My DE homepage.
View Studio Project Assignment Results
Teachers
When a student completes an assignment, you can access the results from the All Assignments list in My Classrooms. The following are important to note about Studio Quiz assignment results:
- Studio Quizzes show a completion rate for students.
- Single and Multiple Answer questions are automatically graded.
- Short Answer quizzes are graded by the teacher using the embedded rubric. The teacher can also leave comments.
Students
Students can access their grade, as well as teacher feedback, within a Studio project when they select View Results.
